"World will see a boom in IoT"

World will see a boom in IoT
-Dr.Shashidhar

"New embedded systems need to be IoT-ready, as the world will see a boom in IoT (Internet of Things)," said Dr.  SM Shashidhar, Head of Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering, RYM Engineeering College.

He was speaking as the Chief Guest in the workshop on Microprocessors and embedded systems, organised at Vijayanagar College Hosapete on 7th Nov 2015.

Dr. SM shashidhar, spoke on the emerging trends in the industry. He also spoke about the architecture and applications of microprocessors and microcontrollers.  He emphasised that students should keep themselves abreast of the advancements in embedded systems.

Dr. SM shashidhar said that the design and development of cost effective real time systems is gaining importance. Use of Application specific integrated circuits (ASIC) reduces the time-to-market, and entreprenuers should exploit this new trend.

"For as long as 50 years, Moore's Law has been one of the key gauges of advancement around the globe. In 1965, Gordon Moore predicted that the transistor density of ICs would double every two years. Moore's Law has been utilized to forecast the transitions in the industry from mainframes to minicomputers, then to portable PCs, handheld gadgets, and now to the Internet of Things (IoT)", he said.

Dr.Shashidhar Bellad, Principal of Vijayanagar College, Dr. Karibasavaiah, HOD of Electronics dept, Dr.Jagannath, Prof. Prabhakar were present on this occassion. Graduate and Post-graduate students of Electronics and Physics dept of Vijayanagar College attended this program.
